Looking for a fun way to get rid of unpleasant smells? How about making your own scented room spray?
Creating your own fragrance spray is fun, easy and inexpensive. It’ll save you money and keep harmful aerosols and chemicals out of your home. All you need are a few natural ingredients like essential oils.
Alcohol and Essential Oil Spray
First, gather your materials. You’ll need a 200 ml spray bottle, alcohol, water and essential oils. The alcohol is used to dissolve the oils. Vodka works great, but you can also use rubbing alcohol. The essential oils are what make your spray smell good. You can use anything from lemon oil to lavender, rose or eucalyptus.
- 1 Tbs. alcohol
- 15-35 drops of essential oils
Mix the alcohol and essential oils until the oils disappear. Then, fill the remainder of the bottle with water and spray to your heart’s content.
Witch Hazel Fragrance Spray
You can make a great scented spray using witch hazel, water and essential oils. If you want a stronger fragrance, simply add more essential oils.
Thoroughly mix the ingredients. Pour into desired spray bottle. Shake and spray as needed!
Citrus Fragrance Spray
You can create a refreshing, bright fragrance spray using citrus fruits.
Cut away pieces of peel from each of the citrus fruits. Place the peels in a bowl or jar and pour in vodka until they are covered. Let this sit for several hours or overnight. The vodka will cause the oils in the peels to diffuse.
Next, pour your peels and vodka into spray bottles. Add water and shake. If you are using small bottles, you may wish to discard some of the vodka. You want at least half of the solution to be filled with water.
Try one or all of the above recipes to make your own scented room spray. Most of these simple concoctions cost less than 3 dollars. They’re super easy, fun to make and work great.
